100 Years, 100 Works presented by Icarus International December 1 – 31
from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. Festival Park Art Gallery. Heralding the connection
between creativity and invention, one hundred works of flight inspired
art will fill the Festival Park Art Gallery. An opening reception will
be held on Sunday, December 7 from 4 – 6 p.m. For more information

The Outer Banks Forum for the Lively Arts celebrates First Flight Centennial
by presenting Jim Walker and "Free Flight". From Bach to Beethoven
to Miles Davis to the Beatles: the leading flute in Hollywood! Performance
is Saturday, December 6 at 7:30pm at Kitty Hawk Elementary School; tickets
are $15 in advance/$17 at the door, students 12-18 $5 with student I.D.,

First Flight Centennial Celebration at Wright Brothers

Igniting the Imagination - This first day of the centennial is designed to inspire
the next generation of aviators by engaging children of all ages in the
power of flight. Highlights include interacting with NASA; interviews
with the Wright family children; candy bomber demonstrations; and a chance
to soar with the EAA Young Eagles. |

Remember the Past, Imagine the Future - During these two days of the Centennial Celebration, "Remember
the Past, Imagine the Future" will celebrate aviation's impact over
the last century, featuring appearances by historic aviators, history
of flight exhibits, aircraft demonstrations. |

Protecting the Home of the Brave - On the fourth day of the Centennial Celebration, "Protecting
the Home of the Brave" celebrates the impact of aviation in the
military and includes military aircraft dating back to WWI and a military
flyover. |

In History's Footsteps - For the fifth day of the Centennial Celebration, "In
History's Footsteps, Celebrating 100 Aviation Pioneers" honors 100
aviation heroes and includes films and exhibits. |

12 Seconds that Changed the World - On the final day of the Centennial, "12 Seconds
that Changed the World" presents a re-creation of the Wright brothers'
flight at the exact same time (10:35 am) and place. (The flight will
be repeated at 2:00 pm.) The authentic re-creation of the 1903 Flyer
is being commissioned by the EAA and built by the Wright Experience.
Dignitaries, celebrities, descendants of the Wright brothers and the
first flight witnesses, and aviation legends will be on hand to commemorate
this occasion. |
